This book is intended to leverage the idea that information is consumed in different ways today. In this book, we have taken a well-established body of knowledge – economics – and attempted to change the delivery approach to a more modern concept. While this is a book in the traditional sense, you will find that the approach within is far from traditional, especially for a series of concepts that are considered more academic in nature. Another differentiator in this book is the approach to delivering graphs. The underpinnings of modern economics is calculus. Calculus is best visualized as graphs. And of course, the math and graphs become a barrier to learning for many people. So, we set out to rethink the graphs and came up with the approach in this book. The graphs are intended to veer away from the cold academic approach that you will see in most books and deliver a warm and aesthetic interface into the math that makes up the concepts. And in addition to having a nice visual appeal, the graphs also have consistencies that are intended to help people digest the concepts. As an example, we spend a lot of time covering the topic of supply and demand and many of its associated applications in this book. When you look at a supply and demand graph, you will note that a demand curve is almost always red and a supply curve is almost always blue. By using consistent color approaches for complex but interrelated graphs, the mind will more easily learn the information and identify the interrelatedness of the concepts. Between the overall visual appeal and the subtle color-coding, we hope to reduce the anxiety that people have when learning about economics. We have spent years developing the methodology for our graphs. We are trying something different here in the hope that we can positively affect the learning process on concepts that people often find hard to understand. We hope that you enjoy our approach. We love feedback and welcome you to reach out if you have suggestions on how to improve these materials in the future.
